Pineapple guava
Coastal Roots Farm · EncinitasDon’t let the name fool you! Pineapple guava isn’t actually a pineapple or a true guava. Also known as feijoa (pronounced fay-JOH-uh), this fragrant fall fruit has a sweet-tart, tropical flavor reminiscent of pineapple, strawberry and mint. When slightly soft and aromatic, slice it in half and scoop out the center with a spoon, or eat the entire fruit—skin and all—for a pleasantly tangy bite.
TipLet firm fruit ripen on the counter until it gives slightly when pressed, then refrigerate and enjoy within a few days.
