Coastal Roots Farm

Coastal Roots Farm is a nonprofit organic and regenerative community farm located in Encinitas that cultivates healthy, connected communities through sustainable agriculture, food justice, environmental stewardship, and inclusive educational programming. Situated on approximately 17 acres, the farm serves as both a productive agricultural space and a vibrant community hub where people of all ages can gather to learn, celebrate, and reconnect with the natural world. Through programs such as Farm Camp, Nature Play, field trips, after-school education, public events, farm tours, and their pay-what-you-can farm stand, Coastal Roots Farm has become an important fixture in the San Diego community. Their work reaches thousands of children and families each year, offering hands-on experiences that help people better understand food systems, ecological stewardship, and the importance of community-centered agriculture. On a personal note, Coastal Roots Farm holds a special place in my own farming journey. It was one of the very first farms I was exposed to here in San Diego, and seeing the care, beauty, and sense of community they cultivated gave me the confidence and inspiration to pursue my own passion for gardening and farming more seriously. Their commitment to education, accessibility, and creating spaces for families and organizations to gather has made them not only an incredible agricultural organization, but also a lasting source of inspiration within the local food community.
