A fair look at San Diego’s produce-box options, and what makes ours different.

People sometimes ask us how our farm box compares with the other produce delivery services available in San Diego.

It’s a fair question, and one we wanted to answer fairly.

So over the past nine months, I've ordered boxes from several well-known services, including Yasukochi Family Farms, Farm Fresh to You, and Misfits Market, to better understand what each one actually offers.

What I found is that there isn’t one universally “best” produce box.

Yasukochi offers an impressive amount of produce for the price. Farm Fresh to You provides certified-organic produce with a highly developed delivery service. Misfits Market offers the selection and convenience of a full online grocery store.

Our box is different.

We deliberately curate our boxes and focus on food grown here in San Diego County, often within 30 miles of your home. We tell you which farm grew each item and how to use it. Our credit system also lets you decide when you want a box without committing to a rigid weekly schedule.

Each service, in other words, solves a slightly different problem.

To help you understand which one might serve you best, we created a new comparison tool that makes those differences easier to see.
