Farm Fresh to You vs Cardiff Tiny Farm
Farm Fresh to You is one of the best-known produce subscription providers in California offering certified organic produce, a wide range of customization options and an established supply chain that leads to greater convenience. They too have a farming operation under the name Capay Organics located in Capay, California (just outside of Davis) which is where much of their produce is sourced from.
Cardiff Tiny Farm is a much smaller operation focused on improving access to food grown in San Diego County. Much like Farm Fresh to You, we grow our own produce and source the rest from other farms. The biggest difference is proximity. Cardiff Tiny Farm focuses primarily on farms in and around San Diego and identifies the source of every item.

|---|---|---|
Our box contains salad mixes and microgreens grown on our own farm and produce sourced from farms in San Diego County. | Sourced across the West Coast. Very little (if any) of a typical box is grown in San Diego County. | |
All produce is grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. Some farms we source from are certified organic, the rest are trusted growers using organic practices. | Certified organic produce throughout the box. | |
A good medium box for a couple or a small household. | A solid medium box; enough for a couple, not a large-household haul. | |
Home delivery across coastal San Diego County, plus neighborhood pickup points. We are in the process of expanding our delivery area to include more of San Diego County. Ask us if we deliver to your area. | Home delivery across California (and beyond), with more on-demand ordering. | |
Credits system instead of a recurring subscription. Order the weeks you want, skip the rest. | Subscription with customization, add-ons, and skip weeks. | |
Much of our produce is harvested shortly before packing (1-2 days on average), and our shorter regional supply chain helps reduce the time between farm and box. | The box we received was fresh and thoughtfully packed. Its broader sourcing network generally creates a longer route to San Diego than Cardiff’s regional model. | |
We offer organic dry goods (nuts, dried fruit, grains, etc.) and other local products. But we are not a full grocery run. | Produce plus a developed grocery catalog — fruit, pantry, and extras. | |
Every item is listed with the farm that grew it and information about the farm and the grower. | Farm and certification information is available for many products, although the box is not organized around a weekly item-by-item grower story. | |
Every box comes with its own speacially crafted interactive information card that includes facts about each farm, featured recipes and other information about regenerative agriculture. | Some recipes and packing notes. | |
$32-$37 per box depending on the number of credits you purchase in advance. Our bulk discount pricing makes our box a great value compared to most delivery services. | $37 for a standard box. |
Our Relative Strengths
The Best of Both Boxes
Farm Fresh to You made produce subscriptions feel normal for a lot of California households. If you prefer certified organic produce, box customization, and service that can deliver anywhere, they are often the stronger practical choice.
What Farm Fresh to You does well
- 01Certified organic at scale
The produce we received was all certified organic. If the USDA seal is the filter you use, they are a better match for you.
- 02Convenience at scale
We placed the order two days before the box arrived. That kind of reliability is what a long-running supply chain is for — and it is not something a tiny operaton like ours can copy.
- 03Customization and extras
You can shape the box to include however many produce items you want.
Different boxes. Same goal.
Farm Fresh to You helped make organic produce delivery accessible to households across California. We cannot match its certified-organic coverage, customization, delivery footprint, or grocery selection. If those are your priorities, it is likely the stronger service. If you want a smaller, San Diego-centered box with direct sourcing relationships and a story behind every item, Cardiff may be the better fit.
