Shine Project

The Shine Project Foundation creates inclusive programs and community experiences that empower children and families with special needs to connect, grow, and thrive.

The Shine Project Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating inclusive experiences, resources, and community support for children, teens, young adults, and families with special needs throughout San Diego County. Through enrichment events, wellness programming, mentorship, and community partnerships, Shine works to reduce isolation while creating spaces where individuals and families feel welcomed, supported, and empowered. At Cardiff Tiny Farm, we’re honored to partner with Shine through the Food 2 Grow program — an initiative rooted in the belief that food, nature, and community can play a powerful role in personal growth and wellbeing. Together, we host programs that bring children and young adults with special needs to the farm to engage in hands-on farming activities, learn about healthy local food, and experience the therapeutic and grounding benefits of working with the land. Whether planting seeds, harvesting vegetables, preparing meals, or simply spending time outdoors together, the program creates opportunities for confidence-building, connection, and joy. Beyond the programming itself, Shine embodies something deeply meaningful to us: the belief that truly healthy communities are inclusive communities. Their work continually reminds us that farms can nourish far more than just people’s plates — they can nourish belonging, dignity, and human connection as well.
