Foodshed Cooperative is a farmer-led food hub helping connect local farms, fresh food, and community across San Diego County.
Foodshed Cooperative is a farmer-led food hub and cooperative working to strengthen San Diego County’s local food system by connecting small farms directly with consumers, restaurants, schools, and community organizations. Through thoughtful aggregation and distribution, Foodshed helps make truly local food more accessible while creating meaningful economic opportunities for regional growers practicing regenerative and sustainable agriculture.
Their work has become deeply integral to how we operate our CSA program at the tiny farm. While much of the salad greens and herbs within our boxes are grown directly here onsite, Foodshed’s network allows us to source an incredible diversity of seasonal produce from neighboring farms across Southern California. Because of their food hub operations, we’re able to offer our CSA members a wider range of fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, flowers, and artisan products than would otherwise be possible from our small urban footprint alone.
Beyond logistics, Foodshed represents a broader vision for regional food resilience — one rooted in cooperation over competition and relationships over scale. Their work helps create the connective tissue between farms and communities, making local food systems more viable, collaborative, and deeply interconnected.
