I vividly remember the first time I laid eyes on the tiny farm.
Back then, it was under the stewardship of Sea and Soil — a surf-and-garden nonprofit serving the very same purpose we continue today: reconnecting people to nature, regenerating ecosystems, and building community.
It took me a while to find the place that first day. I had assumed the farm was somewhere else entirely (and was convinced it must be tucked in someone’s front yard). When I finally arrived at the right address and turned the corner of the white-bricked studio that shields the farm from street view, time seemed to stand still.
Like spotting a soul mate through the noise of a subway station, everything suddenly slowed. The world went quiet. And something in me recognized that this place was special, even if I didn’t yet know why.
I didn’t know what role the farm would eventually play in my life, but something inside me told me to get to know it — if only to learn how to contribute to its unique beauty.
That’s why it remains so special to witness others seeing the farm for the first time. It reminds me of that original spark of joy — that moment when the land reveals itself and something inside you shifts. I see that same magic flicker in the eyes of every new visitor.
That flicker showed itself again last week, in the eyes of Vanessa — founder of Namaste Bliss and a first-time guest of the tiny farm — whose visit blossomed into a beautifully written reflection.
In it, she writes about her first farm-to-table dinner here at the tiny farm, recounting the sights, sounds, and flavors of the night.
“There is truly nothing like enjoying food that has traveled just a few steps from the farm to your table.”
Vanessa dedicates her post to her father — someone who loved nature, organic food, and handmade beauty. It’s a touching tribute, and one we feel honored to hold space for here.
